Internet giant Google.com turned their homepage black saying they turned down the lights for the day, inviting people to turn out the lights from 8pm to 9pm local time. Visitors from USA only can view the black page of Google but here is a screen shot of the Google.com homepage. Google is doing that as a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour. Google is, however, not doing this permanently. They say this does not save electricity as the modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what they display.
